Maria Credali
Maria is a much sought after storyteller of growing renown. Having discovered and immersed herself in the world of storytelling several years ago, Maria now takes traditional tales and makes them her own, breathing life into characters and taking the listener on journeys of magic and myth.
She has told at clubs across the UK and abroad. Maria will be telling as up and coming artist to watch on the main stage artist at the East Anglian Storytelling Festival 2021 and as a featured teller at the Marrakech International Storytelling Festival in February 2022.
During lockdown Maria has told extensively at storytelling events and clubs across the country, and is one of the storytellers invited to tell online for The World Storytelling Café.
Whilst some storytellers have struggled to adapt to the online medium during Covid, Maria has excelled and made it her own. Her warmth and humor shine through the screen and she ‘shares’ her tales in the truest sense of the word.
Recent performances include
Jan 21 ‘Seven Years a Wolf’ an hour long epic story set featuring one of King Arthur’s lesser known knights, based on a15th century French ballad. Surrey Storytellers.
‘The glorious Maria Credali took us back to Arthurian England and the mournful tale of the cursed Sir Marrock: sorcery, swineherding, wolves and the restorative power of paternal love – an irresistible combination that drew the packed house into a vivid world of story conjured by Maria.’ Alastair Daniels, Surrey Storytellers.
March 21 ‘Persephone and Demeter’ a greek myth brimming with beautiful imagery of how the first Spring came to be.
Storytelling gold’ Lisa Schneidau, Soth Devon storytellers.
Maria has a warm and engaging, humorous style which is well suited to sharing story secrets with her audiences. Her favourite stories are those that leave you feeling that all is well in the world…..perhaps those are just the sort of stories we need at the moment…
