Sarah originally trained at a contemporary dancer at The Laban Centre for Movement & Dance in London before retraining as an actor at Drama Studio London. She performed in several theatre-in-education productions, touring schools and small scale venues across the UK and performing at the Edinburgh Fringe. In 2005 she joined the New Vic Theatre Education department as Education Theatre Practitioner.

The Kitchen, Appetite’s artist development programme. Aiming to improving access to high quality theatre for families in areas where arts engagement is currently low initial research focussed on exploring the feasibility of a school playground becoming a venue for an immersive theatre event. The project recognised that a large number of people access a school’s playground on a daily basis, not just school children and teachers but parents, grandparents, toddlers, older brothers and sisters – members of the wider community. Through discussions and participatory workshops with staff, children and parents from two Stoke-on-Trent primary schools In March 2015 Out in the Playground received Grants for the Arts funding from Arts Council England to create a bespoke installation structure and immersive theatre performance and deliver residencies in two primary schools in Stoke-on-Trent during summer 2015.
