About this Place
Theatre company based in Stoke-on-Trent. “There’s room for a professional theatre company in Stoke-on-Trent – using non-theatre spaces, and perhaps with a touring remit… Our mission is to create the highest quality new drama for non-theatre spaces, and then take our work ‘made in Stoke’ out on tour to the wider UK.”
Creative Director: Deborah McAndrew
Artistic Director: Conrad Nelson.
First production: UGLY DUCK, supported by Arts Council England, premiered at the Art Room, Burslem School of Art, November 2013, touring to MAC, Birmingham: remounted for New Vic Theatre September 2014.
Other work includes DIGGING IN – play about the 1984-5 Miners’ Strike for schools and public performance at Mitchell Arts Centre, Hanley in June 2015.
Currently in development: THE MIDDLEPORT MURDERS – site specific live drama for Middleport Pottery.
