About this Creative

Vision

FRONTLINEdance seeks to break down the barriers for people to engage in dance participation and performance, playing a positive role in integration and community cohesion.

We want the same access and progression routes into dance for disabled children and young people that exist for their non-disabled peers. Whilst striving for disabled dance artists to be viewed in the same professional light as mainstream dancers, choreographers and facilitators.

What we can offer

We create, move, dance and perform with 3 to 103 year olds from beginners to professionals. Our focus is dance and disability, but we also provide opportunities and access to art, media, music and drama, striving to target those who would not normally have the opportunity to take part. The purpose of the group is to increase self-esteem, confidence, teamwork skills and inspiration, to raise awareness of what is possible and promote positive responses to both disability and to dance.

Creating new dance work with disabled children, young people, adults and older people is something that we have loved doing over the last 15 years. We’ve enjoyed integrating different class groups and schools together and being inspired by the participant’s creativity and performance skills. These creations have resulted in film work, site specific performances, performing in theatres, schools and community settings. The company also performs in a wide-range of settings; locally, regionally & nationally.

We officially set up as not-for- profit company back in 2001, and we’ve been kept busy collaborating and working with some wonderful partners ever since. FRONTLINEdance was founded by Rachael Lines and Michael King. The company work regionally and nationally. All company members are trained professional dancers with the additional experience of making dance and facilitating / leading workshops for all ages and abilities. We also offer training opportunities.
