Museum and gallery programme includes touring art exhibitions including partnership with Tate and British Museum and collaboration with the V & A. Audience-focused programme features exhibitions of local and national significance, complemented by a lively series of special events. Programme includes: themed exhibitions drawing on the Museum’s collections (e.g. The Anglo-Saxon Kingdom of Mercia), exhibition partnerships (e.g. the British Ceramics Biennial: Award) and touring exhibitions (e.g. Japanese Cloisonne: The Seven Treasures). A programme of special events draws on a range of sources and themes from Alice in Wonderland to Circus of Fear, from Anglo Saxon events to The Last Lancaster. Community activities include cultural festivals such as Chinese New Year, Diwali and Eid. Free admission, open all year round.

The Museum includes the Forum Theatre (300 seat venue) used about 100 times p.a. for cinema, music recitals and other events.
