City Youth Service

Service has taken heavy cuts in recent years, with provision reduced by two thirds; down from 14 building-based centres in 2010 to 5 at end 2013; staff reduced from 50+ FT and 120 sessional to 13 FT and 50 sessional. Demand continues to rise, and staff are passionate about changing young people’s lives for the better.

Service provision includes activities in parks, youth centres, detached work and school holiday programmes. Some provision for children with special educational needs is school-based. Off-site mobile youth work to areas without building-based provision includes:
Five HOPPA vehicles, kitted out with activities and equipment for young people to enjoy ROCKA, vehicle kitted out with music production equipment with Apple Mac suites ROLLA, vehicle kitted out with video editing and production equipment.
